The summer is rapidly dwindling away. I feel like I didn’t get a chance to any of the fun things I planned to do. You know, like riding a bike along the beach, relaxing at a cottage, hiking along a trail or skydiving nude from an airplane.I have spent most of my evenings dipping rasher after rasher of finely cooked bacon into a beer and watching the sunset. I suppose that’s something. So in these last dying days, let’s take our minds off summer’s inevitable end by thinking only of the crazy bacon things that have happened this week. The full details after the jump.
Bacon and Cheddar Macaroni and Cheese
Mac and cheese recipes are like amusing graphic t-shirts: you can never have too many. This one involves all of the standard ingredients – cheddar, bacon, pasta – plus enough cream to drown any tears you may be shedding over how beautiful this meal is, and how the love you feel it is giving you is making you feel all happy in your tummy.
i need to show a little love to Chef Rob. Why? I want some free cooked meals, plus his recent cookie recipe was amazing. He made an amazing chocolate cookie recipe a few months back. I honestly believe this new cookie recipe is by far the best cookie recipe ever. I love it even more that we made it plus bacon is part of the recipe.
Spinach, Bacon and Tomato Salad
Sadly, I don’t make the rules. You have to eat vegetables sometimes. When it does become necessary to increase my vegetable intake, I find it’s helpful to use bacon as a way to distract myself from their leafiness. This sort of salad business – where you are basically just cooking some bacon and then tossing it into the greens – also appeals to my extreme laziness.
Best Peameal Bacon Sandwiches in Toronto
If you are living in Toronto, you might want to check out the peameal bacon sandwiches that blogTO suggested as the city’s best. Personally, I think the best ones are ones I make myself. Or the ones I am given free samples of. It wouldn’t hurt to throw in a few fries, as well.
I hate Tofu, it doesn’t have flavour unless you inject it with flavour. It looks weird cut up in blocks and it reminds me of construction material. Now that being said, I understand that bacon makes everything better. Turns out Bacon wrapped tofu is pretty good. It must be the bacon that makes it taste so good.
MC Escher Bacon
MC Escher was a Dutch artist who drew optical illusions. He also created strange, interlocking images where fish turned into birds, or angels became devils. They’ve since become popular for all sorts of things, but this is the first one I’ve seen that involves a delicious frying pan full of bacon.
