Bacon Love Friday: Cooking With Sin
If there’s something that we love here at the Republic of Bacon, it is sinfully indulgent recipes that feature bacon. We admire creativity is all forms, but especially those that work through the medium of bacon. It should come as no surprise, then, that we are are absolutely in love with Carla Johnson‘s new cookbook, Cooking With Sin. Every recipe in this decedent compendium is as delicious as it is naughty. I was able to meet Carla in person [Editor's note: You get our and socialize? I thought you blogged all day.] Super friendly person, she is very warm and welcoming. Yes, I was a bit nervous meeting her. Cooking with Sin became a finalist in the Best Books 2011 USA Aawards!

For this week’s edition of Bacon Love Friday, we thought we would showcase some of our favourite bacon-centred recipes from this mouthwatering collection. Rev up your kitchens!
Roman Holiday Spaghetti Carbonara
This pasta dish is rich, creamy, and positively sumptuous. The texture is completely beyond compare. With a generous serving of bacon (8 strips!), as well as oodles of parmesan cheese, this dish is definitely an indulgence, but one that is absolutely worth it.
Bacon and Roasted Red Pepper Jalapeno Poppers
What is better than a jalapeno popper? One that has been wrapped in bacon, of course. Each of these spicy, cheese bites is lovingly wrapped in a spiral of bacon before being grilled and dipped in sumptuous bbq sauce.
Carbonnade à la Flamande
This hearty beef stew, made with tasty Belgian beer, also contains a significant serving of bacon. A perfect sort of meal to warm you up and stick to your ribs as the weather is getting cooler.
Fried Green Tomatoes
These crispy and delicious southern staples are fried in bacon grease, giving them a rchness and depth of flavour that is beyond compare.
Pasta de la Coeur
This pasta definitely captured our hearts with it’s sweet smokiness and complex, vibrant flavour. The bacon adds just a bit of salty intensity to this very bright sauce and makes this a meal to impress.
Julia Child’s Beef Bourguignon
This classic recipe calls for blanches bacon rind to add a little more richness and complexity to an already rich and complex dish.

RofB! Luv you guys! Ever since I started Cooking With Sin I have kept my fridge stocked with a pack of bacon. Now that we’ve met and felt the bacon-love, I’m gonna be keeping 2 packs!
Just watched an episode of Big Bang Theory. Sheldon’s mom comes for a visit and when Leonard says her pancakes are delicious she says, “The trick to pancakes is bacon grease. I cook everything in it!”
