As much as it pains me to say it, the time of iced coffees and cold everything is sadly over. There’s something about a latte when its on ice that makes me forget I’m drinking enough caffeine to make my heart feel like it’s going to explode, which somehow makes me feel less guilty. That said, with the changing of the coffee shop guard from summer to autumn, hot beverages (many with delicious fall themes) are back in style. And you know what goes brilliantly with hot, tasty drinks? That’s right, bacon!

Maple Bacon Coffee

If you’re one of those people who needs to get breakfast on the go, what is quicker and more efficient than enjoying a full bacon and pancake breakfast in one cup? Okay, so maybe you won’t get the name nutritional value, but you certainly will get some of the flavours. Subtle aromas of bacon and maple syrup infuse this great coffee, making it a breakfast in a mug. The smell is totally irresistible.

Bacon, Bourbon and Hazelnut Hot Chocolate

There is nothing as comforting as a mug of hot chocolate after a long, chilly day of exploring the city or walking through the park, but this updated version takes it from warming treat to extraordinary indulgence. The whipped cream and hazelnuts make it as much a dessert as it is a drink, and the hint of bourbon asserts that this beverage is definitely for adults (though a non-alcoholic version could easily be made for the kiddies).

Hot Chocolate with Bacon and Chilies

I have long been a fan of hot chocolate with a little bit of spice in it. Often called Mayan or Mexican hot chocolate, Vosges fine chocolatier has a version they refer to as Aztec Elixer. Now, while this is excellent all on its own, when topped with a bacon marshmallow, this cold-weather treat goes from simply lovely to out of this world.
