The Best Bacon Cookie Recipes

As part of our scouring-the-Internet-to-look-for-the-most-amazing-recipes, today we bring you the best bacon cookie recipes we could find. Bacon and cookies may not seem the most intuitive combination ever, but they do awesomely match. Think of it this way: the cookie says, “COMFORT!” while the bacon says, “EAT ME!” (Well, they both kinda say that, but the bacon is louder.) And, fortunately, the Internet is literally bursting at the seams with delicious bacon cookie recipes. A few of our favourites follow after the jump.

Bacon Love Friday: The 8 Best Bacon Tumblr Posts of the Week

Since we’ve pretty much run the gamut of bacon blogs on the Internet, I thought we’d shift our focus on Friday Link Loves from individual blogs to a range of blogs. Since Tumblr is one of the most popular blogging platforms out there, I thought we’d start our exploration there. Today, I’m going to give you ten of my favourite bacon blog posts from tumblr sites for the week. These will range from great recipes to general all-around wackiness. Hang onto your TGIF cap – it’s going to get wild! Blog-craziness follows after the leap.

1. Bacon-Infused Pancakes

Image Provided by avant-lard.tumblr.com

I’m not sure how the bacon got inside the pancakes (it’s hiding pretty carefully), but I do like the little crown of bacon. Yummers.

2. Bacon Salad Bowl

Image Provided by gourmetgrub.tumblr.com

This is the only way anyone should be eating a salad. That is, if their salad doesn’t already have bacon bits on top. But you might as well be on the safe side and use the bacon salad bowl.

3. Bacon Trampoline

Image Provided by stuiebuck.tumblr.com

This one could possibly get some people into trouble. After all, you don’t want to start jumping on a wet floor, hoping that it is somehow going to magically turn itself into a bacon trampoline. Or maybe I’m just being close-minded. Maybe that’s exactly how it becomes a bacon trampoline.

4. Bacon and Egg Converse

Image Provided by clarionyellow.tumblr.com

These shoes are for the bacon fashion completist. I imagine that it would go well with a knitted bacon scarf and some bacon earrings.

5. Oven-Roasted Bacon-Wrapped Enoki

Image Provided by foodisallthatmatters.tumblr.com

Tumblr isn’t just a collection of bizarre photographs and silly jokes. It’s also a source of delicious recipes. Here, we get a simple recipe for some enoki mushrooms doused in maple syrup and wrapped in bacon. Think of it as east meets west, bacon-style.

6. Bacon-Wrapped Steak

Image Provided by eatoutloud.tumblr.com

OH EM GEE. Just when you think something like steak can’t get any better, someone adds bacon to it! I think they should probably think about drizzling that with ice cream and vodka. What’s the harm?

7. Potato & Bacon Leek Soup

A show called Hungry in Brooklyn offers this mouthwatering recipe for a bacon and leek soup. It also looks super-easy. If you want to get the full scoop on how to make it, check out the episode where they’ve featured the recipe. Shea Hess is awesome… just saying!

8. A Giant Pile O’ Bacon

When it’s the end of the week, it’s probably a good idea to keep the things you love as close to you as possible. To help you out, I’m linking to this photo of bacon. I recommend bringing your face as close to the screen as possible. It’ll help you really get closer to the things you love.

J&D’s Foods Introduces Bacon-Flavoured Air

The smell of bacon has to be one of the best parts of eating bacon. Just a whiff of that succulent, meaty odour will get my tastebuds salivating and my mind imagining the delights that are awaiting it. I’ve already written about some products that have attempted to capture this tempting and unique scent, like bacon candles. But J&D’s Foods – the makers of Bacon Salt and Baconnaise – have taken this concept one step further. They have invented BaconAir: a bacon flavoured oxygen inhaler. Yes, a bacon-flavoured oxygen inhaler. All of the bizarre details follow after the jump.

When I think back to my escapades in Germany many moons ago, one of the things that stands out in my mind is the meals that were provided to me by the gracious family that had taken me in – these meals predominantly being breakfast. Now, traditional German breakfasts are different than those had in North America; German breakfasts involve cold-cut sandwiches served with cheeses and wonderfully fresh bread from the bakery down the street. The breads were also quite different – extremely flavourful and much denser than I was used to. Quite hearty! It was a perfect way to start the day.

Now how about starting the day with some beer, too! How, you ask? Well, put it in with the bread. Add some bacon and you’ve got the bread of champions. This is, by far, the easiest bread you will ever make. You don’t have to knead it. You don’t have to let it rise. All you have to do is mix your ingredients, throw it in a bread-pan and be on your way. I added some fried bacon to it, but that’s as hard as it gets. I don’t even really need to write instructions (Don’t worry, I’ll do it anyway)!

The Top 10 Best Bacon Sandwich Recipes

Well, we know you all loved our top 10 favorite breakfast bacon recipes. So today, and without further ado, here’s our list of our favourite bacon sandwich recipes. Enjoy!

1. Egg Sandwich with Spinach, Brie and Maple Bacon

Image Provided by Framed Cooks

Brie is sort of the greatest thing ever (aside from bacon). It has an incredible odour part of its charm. Melt that sucker over some bacon and I can almost (almost) overlook the fact this baby has some spinach on it. I know, I know – spinach tastes fine. It’s just that I know that bacon and spinach are mortal enemies and want to remain forever apart.

2. Candied Bacon Sandwich

Image Provided by blog.dave.io

This one isn’t much beyond some candied bacon between a couple pieces of bread. But any excuse to eat candied bacon, and I’m willing to go for it. The plus of eating it as a sandwich means that anyone calls you on the fact you are kind of eating dessert, you can point out that it’s actually lunch.

3. Grilled Cheese, Apple and Bacon Sandwich

Image Provided by ihopeyourehungry.blogspot.com

You know how I said above that it’s irritating that a sandwich would have both bacon and spinach? This sandwich avoids the problem of spinach and bacon contact by substituting sweet apple instead. Mmmm. They use “cheese” in their recipe, but you could try using brie. Just suggesting.

4. Bacon, Fig and Pork Sandwich

Image Provided by thefatdudediet.com

Yah, that’s right. Bacon and figs. DEAL WITH IT, OKAY? I’m already very angry that this is not in my mouth right this moment. I demand the universe fix this situation immediately.

5. Chipotle Guacamole and Bacon Sandwich

Image Provided hotdogsoup.wordpress.com

You had me at “Chipotle.” And then you sealed the deal with “Guacamole.” And, I of course knew that was the truest love that could be because bacon was clearly included in there. I’m naming my children in honour of this sandwich.

6. Bacon, Cheese and Pickle Sandwich

Image Provided learninglifefromscratch.com

This is kind of a down home version of the Rouladen that we showcased last week, except in sandwich form. I’m particularly excited about what the pickle will do to the cheese. I can only imagine it will be breathtaking.

7. Barbecued Brisket and Bacon Sandwich

Image Provided by cookingbytheseatofmypants.com

This dish is sort of a bit of a cross-cultural tease. Jewish cuisine is famous for crafting beautiful briskets; however, they are also famous for not having a fondness for bacon. Clearly, someone needed to fix this situation, and I’m glad they did.

8. Elvis Bacon Sandwich

Image Provided scrapninjasparkles.blogspot.com

Elvis is famous for many things: his music, his leisure suits, his hair. But the one thing we here at the Republic of Bacon love most about him was his bacon innovation. His sandwich – the Elvis Sandwich – is a genius combination of peanut butter, bacon, bananas and marshmallow fluff. You really have to hand it to the man. He knows how to hit a home run.

9. Bacon, Pear and Brie Sandwich

Image Provided seriouseats.com

You can tell I like bacon and cheese together, right? Yeah. I thought so.

10. Chicken Club Sandwich

Image Provided by pickupthefork.com

Any mention of great bacon sandwiches needs to save some room for a traditional chicken club sandwich. A great meal to have at brunch, lunch or dinner, it’s also a popular hangover-remedy snack. Clearly, the gods of bacon were smiling on us the day the Chicken Club sandwich was born.

Potato chips are my secret indulgence. I love ‘em. Gimmie a big ol’ bag of Jalapeno, All Dressed, Smokey Bacon… you name it, I’ll polish them off. Sure, I’d love to have a way to make them myself at home but 1) I don’t have a deep fryer 2) I don’t want to be eating all of this deep fried goodness all the time; my arteries won’t like me very much and 3) they aren’t something you can really eat with a meal. Martha Stewart actually came up with a nice solution – a crispy potato roast, she calls it. It’s kind of like preparing a casserole of scalloped potatoes, but having the potatoes all standing up. In this way, all the potatoes become crispy, like chips! Now, I didn’t like the flavour profile that Martha threw down, so here’s my take. I didn’t like her name either… so I changed that, too.

A lot of kids don’t like their vegetables. Personally, I don’t know why. Well, that’s a lie. Kids hate vegetables because if they’re not smothered in butter and.or cheese, they’re not quite palatable to developing taste buds. Just the way it is…

So how ‘bout if we made vegetables, specifically carrots, taste like candy… BACON candy!!! Kids would eat them up like nobody’s business. They’d get their veg, their protein and a bit of dairy all at the same time. Yeah! Go Chef Rob!

Best part about this recipe? It’s easy as pie. Mmmmmm….Pie.

2. Bacon Butterscotch Breakfast Muffins

Image Provided by cafescrapper-scrapsoflife.blogspot.com

Have you noticed that muffins lately are starting to seem like little cakes? I don’t know how sneaking the word “breakfast” in its name will really make a butterscotch muffin a breakfast food. But no matter. It’s got bacon, and that’s all I care about. Gimme my breakfast bacon muffin, stat!

3. Buttermilk Cheddar Biscuits with Bacon and Egg

Image Provided by stircrazyblog.com

The photos on the site don’t really do it justice, but this is like a more rusticated version of the Egg McMuffin recipe above. The key change is that this one includes some delicious cheddar muffins. Cheese and bacon: together again!

4. Bacon and Eggs in a Pie

Image Provided by annesoceanfront.wordpress.com

A sincerely bizarre dish. It is, as it says, bacon and eggs baked into a pie. A little too high concept for some people, but sometimes you need a little craziness in the morning. Craziness wakes you up! However, as there is pie baking involved, this is probably not something you want to do on your way out the door to work.

5. Bacon and Eggs in a Bowl

Image Provided by zestycook.com

Continuing on the bacon-and-eggs-in-various-things theme, we encounter bacon and eggs in a bowl. This one has little pieces of hash browns and peas baked in. Yum.

6. Breakfast Pancake

Image Provided by savorysweetlife.com

This is insane, but in the exact right perfect way. Pancakes are stacked on top of one another, with various foods stuffed in between them, including bacon. I’m guessing you drizzle syrup all over the top. Whatever you do, you have a delicious breakfast on your hands. You’ll need two for this one.

7. Bacon and Chedder Biscuits

Image Provided by theshoeboxkitchen.wordpress.com

These babies don’t have any bacon or cheddar in their middles like a sandwich. THEY ARE BACON AND EGG BISCUITS. When they are done, the look kind like those biscuits you get at Red Lobster that you want to eat fifteen of, but with bacon? Yeah, like that.

8. Bacon and Egg Cups

Image Provided by thriftyandchicmom.com

Tee hee! Tee hee! Yeah. There pretty ain’t much more you can say about these guys. Adorbz.

9. Bacon-Topped Shrimp and Grits

Image Provided by abloggablelife.typepad.com

For a more Southern-inspired breakfast, why not throw some shrimp and grits into the mix? For those of us who might be a little like what-are-grits?, they suggest putting the bacon and shrimps on top of some rice.

10. Bacon Breakfast Pizza

Image Provided by Emilybites.com

When I eat pizza in the morning it’s because it’s left over from the night before. And I usually feel guilty about that. But apparently I’m allowed to eat pizza in the morning – as long as I make it myself. Genius! These people need more money to fund their brilliant developments.
