Like any food that needs to be kept fresh, you should always be careful storing raw bacon. Even if you don’t get sick, storing bacon wrong can definitely change its flavour – and you don’t want that. So here are some tips to remember when storing bacon.

Do you have difficulty getting up in the morning? If you are like most of us, you probably do. As the days get shorter and the mornings get darker, it just gets harder. And just the fact of waking up to an alarm can start your day off on the wrong foot. Most alarms sound annoying and irritating. Surely there is a better way.

I’m tired.
Two nights ago I only managed three hours of sleep. Would you like to know why? Of course you would!
A good friend of mine had just been dumped by his girlfriend. Needless to say, he was in dire need of consoling and I, being the good friend I am, was there to provide it – for four, long, painful hours. On a related note, if you’re thinking of dumping someone in the near future, PLEASE OH PLEASE do it before 11pm! Nothing quite says Sunday night better than a four hour “cheering up” session with a good friend from 11pm – 3am.
What I told my friend, as I’m sure any other rational-thinking human being would suggest as well, is that being without a girlfriend is all for the better. In fact, seeing how we both share the same love for bacon, I actually came up with five solid reasons why bacon is better than girlfriends.

Ah, you didn’t think this argument would be put to bed this easily, did you?
If you haven’t already, be sure to check out our article detailing a few reasons as to why bacon is better than having a girlfriend. Done? Alright great, now it’s time to look at the flip-side of the argument.
What’s that you say? There’s a flip side?
You bet your bacon there is. You see, I had a close friend of mine read our “Top 5 Reasons Bacon is Better than a Girlfriend” article. While she certainly enjoyed the tongue-in-cheek humour (it’s all done in good fun, I assure you!), she swiftly had this to say in reply to our article: “all that may or may not be true, but at least bacon knows how to cook!” Touché good friend, touché.

This should give you a chuckle.
As we’ve demonstrated in previous articles, the relationship between bacon and some people can be an inseparable bond. If you’re like me (as I’m sure more than a few of you are seeing as this is a site created by bacon lovers for bacon lovers), then I’m sure you wouldn’t want something dear to your heart taken away from you involuntarily.
Eight year old ‘King Curtis’ shares your sentiments.
In an August 2009 episode of the popular ‘Wife Swap’ series, Curtis openly and vibrantly displays his unhappiness with his mother’s (for the week) decision to rid the house of bacon and other foods she deems unnecessary to his diet. Just have a look at the clip linked below:

There are three things I cannot do without in my life: reading, writing, and yeah, you guessed it – bacon. Well, Jayne Rockmill has finally taken the opportunity to combine two of these favourite three things, which certainly makes me happy.

If you haven’t figured it out by now, Jayne Rockmill has released a new book whose title probably serves as a duality for both the motto of my life and the actual title of her book – “I Love Bacon!” Amazing.

There’s a lot of ways to use bacon in the kitchen. Chef Rob has been showing you many delicious recipes. But for some people who don’t cook very often, these recipes can be daunting. After all, frying up bacon doesn’t require any measuring, and we don’t want to exclude anyone who doesn’t like cooking up more than that. So we’ve decided to post a “recipe” that can be made by just about everyone: bacon weaving. I love bacon, I wanted a recipe that was simple, elegant, and looked ‘hard’ to make. I had a ‘friend’ over and I needed to impress her. Besides my own personal needs, I thought the bacon weaving was pretty awesome. The video below shows a massive bacon weave. I thought if I could make a smaller version, it would look amazing and look complicated. Yet, it wasn’t complicated and it was a piece of cake.

I am not a big fan of science, yes I know it has developed some amazing gadgets and some awesome innovations. I just could never memorize the Periodic Table. No matter what I did, I couldn’t memorize it. I guess my mom didn’t feed me enough bacon when I was young. Now out of vengence for not passing that Periodic Table test some off 10 years ago. I have decided to bring my love of bacon and my hatred of science together, with art!
What do you think? Was my 1980s motivational image on bacon using Periodic table overkill or do you think it is the most brilliant masterpiece you have ever seen? Obviously, I am not bias. I think Picaso and his blue era of painting has some new competition.

Previously on the Republic of Bacon, we told you how to make some bacon-washed whiskey or bourbon. Fortunately, that’s not all there is to say about it. While bacon-washing hard liquor to drink by itself is delicious, you can bump up the tastiness factor by making cocktails with the liquor. I am personally a beer drinker, but honestly sometimes I just want to know what a cocktail tastes like. I want to go to a bar and order 007 famous martini. After this weekend, I was in search of a drink I wouldn’t be embrassed to order. I have compiled a list of some of the best Martini’s, Cocktails and drinks that have bacon in it. I’ve left out beer because I want to do a follow up with it (plus I didn’t have time to order it). Today we’ll give you some tips and suggestions on some cocktails to make.

Warning: This article is not providing advice. This article is intended to bring to light the humourous side of Choline.
There’s no doubt that bacon is delicious – but could it even be good for you? We’ve already looked at how bacon can fight hangovers. But there’s even more that bacon can potentially do for you. A study by researchers from the University of North Carolina suggests that bacon might not just only be for grown-ups: the study showed that bacon could be beneficial for unborn children, too.
