If you are in the New York City area on October 15-17 we recommend checking out Bacon-Palooza. Bacon-Palooza is a celebration of all things bacon, with all of the proceeds going to help kids with autism.
John Ordover created the event to bring people together from different walks of life, in his words:
“”My son is autistic, and I’m always looking for ways to raise money to help autistic children. I chose bacon not only because ‘everything is better with bacon’ but because bacon crosses over multiple interest groups and social worlds.”
A generous supply of Bacon Hors d’Oeuvres will be served throughout the weekend and at the Open Bar (after 6pm) try the BaKon Vodka or our specialties the BaKon.L.T. and the BaKon-N-Egg Cream.

Life just got that much better.
Two of my all time favourite things in the world are coming together in a wonderful music-meat hybrid, Katy Perry, and bacon. Yes, that’s correct; Katy Perry has recently stated her desire to have a meat-theme predominant throughout her next album. While I assume her comments to be taken partially tongue in cheek, it would be particularly interesting to see this actually come to fruition – especially seeing as her fiancée, Russell Brand, is notably a vegetarian.

I know what you’re thinking. “Ooooh… Mussels with a fancy looking c. This must be complicated and expensive.” Au contraire, mes amis. Don’t let the upscale restaurant uber-markup fool you. This dish is remarkably easy, super flavourful and, best of all, dirt cheap. I was able to pick up two pounds of fresh, live mussels from my local grocer for under five dollars. They were already cleaned and de-bearded as well (more on this later)! So even on a budget, you can impress your date with this idiot-proof appetizer that is guaranteed to please.

Bacon is so good that, if you are like me, you’ll want to play with it. I know that some people frown on bacon games, but I’m always looking for ways to spend more time with my bacon. I think you should be encouraged to have fun with this magical food, too.
Here are some great ways to play with your bacon

When you think about a perfect tag team, what do you think of? Bonnie and Clyde? Sonny and Cher? Harlem Heat (i.e.Stevie Ray and Booker T)? Bert and Ernie? I say Cheese and Bacon. You put them on a burger and, voila, you’ve got yourself a deluxe burger. You put them on an English muffin and you’ve got yourself “Quick and Easy English Muffins of Awesomeness”. Now, how about adding bacon to Mac n’ Cheese?! I know… I just blew your mind. You’re welcome.
I’m pairing this dish with some veggies (bacon wrapped, of course) to lighten it up slightly. This dish is richer than Bill Gates. I promise you that it will be chock full of cheesy, bacony goodness. I decided to also grill up some Italian sausages and use the Mac n’ Cheese as a side dish, but, to be honest, the Mac was the king of my plate.

It’s never too early to start thinking about buying gifts for that bacon loving loved one in your family. I’m inspired to write this post because the other day I actually saw a little kid with a piece of bacon wrapped around his finger – at least that’s what I thought it was at first glance. Upon closer examination of said child’s finger, I noticed that this “piece of bacon” was not a piece of bacon at all, but rather an adhesive bandage designed to look like a piece of bacon.
This absolutely fascinates me. It really caught my attention and I actually think it’s a great idea for us bacon lovers out there.

After posting our recipe for some amazing Bacon cookies member of the Republic of Bacon Army on facebook Sandra created the recipe herself! The cookies were so good, she actually missed her lunch because of them! In her own words:
“I ‘tasted’ too many cookies & ‘sampled’ too much of the drippings to be hungry!”
Thanks for being awesome Sandra. We love the heart that you put into these cookies. We hope you enjoyed making them as much as we did! The Republic of Bacon salutes you!

A river made from Canadian born milk cows, milk buttered pancakes made from the tender love and touch of a mother. The strawberries were picked at the precious moment and are filled with a surge of flavour. The egg yoke (the sun) and clouds (egg whites) radiate downward on the beloved mountain of bacon.

I’ve come to the realization that the average human being thinks I’m insane for attempting to put bacon in a chocolate cookie. Frankly, they’d be right about the “crazy” part.
More importantly, this means more cookies for us – delicious chocolate cookies with packets of bacon gold. These heavenly nuggets of chewy amazingness (this is a real word for us bacon enthusiasts) far exceeded all my expectations.
Let me set the record straight. Even I was skeptical when I came up with this… but the logic that hit me was irrefutable.
